Our Story

Having both grown up in the Riverland, South Australia, on vineyards, our journey has come full circle, returning home in 2011 to be closer to family and fulfil a dream to be self-employed after two decades of living abroad in California, USA and New Zealand.

I had been a teacher and wellbeing leader since 2011 at our local Primary School and yearning for a career change. So, in April 2021 I took the plunge to develop a flower farm, following my own self-care advice to ‘do something you love’. Aden had mentioned listening to a podcast all about flower farming while on the tractor one day, and from that day the seed was sown.

On so many levels, developing a flower farm just seemed ‘meant to be’. Growing flowers seemed a natural and obvious progression on our property as we have always shared a common passion for gardening and turning a bare patch of dirt into something productive and beautiful. Having moved around so much during our married life, we have certainly had a lot of practice at it!

I have always loved flowers and growing flowers to bring inside. As a little girl I would wonder through my Nanna’s garden always abundant with flowers and revel in the wonder as bulbs would emerge from the soil like magic and blooms would uncurl their petals and put their faces to the sun.

We had about ½ acre of neglected garden just begging to be transformed and an old run-down cottage that had been vacant for many years, perfect to become a floristry studio and so we decided to take the plunge and have a go at flower farming.

We have lived in towns overseas where fresh locally grown flowers have been available to buy, which were great value for money given their long vase life. I would often head off to a farmers’ market to buy a bunch of flowers, whatever was in season to bring home to brighten up the table and ultimately my spirits. I wanted to be able to do that for my local community.
